Our mission

We fill the gap between having a concern about your child and knowing what you can do with that concern.

Co-Regulate supports parents of children with autism, ADHD, significant behavioral challenges, and/or PDA, including families who are still seeking answers about their child's needs. A formal diagnosis is not required to access our services.

We bring together the lived experience of parenting children with these profiles and professional knowledge of children's needs, development, and learning to help parents navigate the complex questions that arise along their parenting journey.

Raising a child with these needs brings additional financial demands for families. We believe that finding direction should not add to that burden. Our support is free because every family deserves access to guidance, regardless of their ability to pay.

Our approach

Meaningful support begins with listening, connection, and respect for each family's experience. Every child and family is different, and there is no single approach that works for everyone. We provide independent, individualized guidance that helps parents make sense of information, clarify concerns, identify meaningful questions, and explore potential next steps.

We support rather than prescribe. We do not sell services or allow financial incentives to shape our guidance. Parents remain the decision-makers, and our role is to help them feel heard, consider their options, and move forward in ways that reflect their child's needs and their family's priorities.

Our vision

We envision a future in which every family can access the support they need to navigate their child's needs, and no parent has to figure everything out alone.

Parents who have navigated similar experiences have valuable perspectives to share. By creating paid opportunities for parents with relevant lived experience and expertise to serve as Family Support Coaches, Co-Regulate aims to expand access to individualized, parent-centered support while creating meaningful, flexible work for parents whose caregiving responsibilities may limit their ability to participate in traditional employment.

Our core values

Every family has a story

We listen before we advise. We take parents' concerns seriously, recognize that they know their children best, and seek to understand their experiences without assumptions or judgment.

Support through connection

Parents deserve a thoughtful partner, not someone telling them what to do. We offer perspective without prescribing decisions, and our guidance is independent of financial incentives.

Support without barriers

Finding support should not mean taking on another financial burden. Every parent deserves a place to turn, regardless of their ability to pay.

Confidence grows through connection

We want parents to leave conversations feeling heard, better equipped to explore possibilities, and more confident deciding what comes next.

Meet our founder

Sara Horovitz

Founder and Director of Parent Coaching & Advocacy

Sara holds a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education, an Illinois Type 04 teaching license, and a Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement. With ten years of classroom teaching experience, she brings a professional understanding of children's development, learning, and individual needs. As the parent of two neurodivergent children, she also brings personal experience navigating the questions, uncertainties, and complexities that can come with supporting children whose needs don't always fit neatly into traditional expectations or approaches.

Sara founded Co-Regulate out of a recognition that for parents whose children require a different way of thinking, learning, or being supported, figuring out what to do next can feel overwhelming. The answers aren't always straightforward, and finding someone who truly understands the complexity of their situation can be difficult.

Sara believes families deserve more than one-size-fits-all advice. They deserve someone willing to take the time to listen, get to know their story, understand what they've already tried, and explore their questions alongside them.

She also founded Co-Regulate in recognition of how much families already invest in seeking support for their children. By providing individualized support at no cost, Sara hopes to make it easier for parents to find the information and perspective they need as they navigate their child's journey.

Why "Co-Regulate"?

Co-regulation is the process of finding support, connection, and steadiness through our relationships with others. It reminds us that we aren't meant to navigate difficult moments alone.

For children, co-regulation means having supportive adults who help them navigate big feelings, overwhelming experiences, and challenges that can be difficult to manage on their own. For parents, it can mean having someone who listens without judgment, takes their concerns seriously, and helps them explore what might be helpful for their child and family.

We chose the name Co-Regulate because we believe support begins with connection. At Co-Regulate, we believe families are stronger when they don't have to figure everything out alone.
